Debrecen 09

This year's Debrecen camp was a great success with a strong and talented British and Hungarian team. We had good 30-40 campers aged between 12-17 years old.

This year I had excellent team of people both on the Hungarian and British side and an excellent group of campers, who made the camp great fun to be involved in. All the leaders commented on how they enjoyed teaching their class English through the usual mind stimulating way: a role play, games, quizzes ect. The Bible studies were also very interesting as we studied the ‘I am sayings of Jesus, which stimulated some very interesting discussion within the class. The evening talks were based round the major themes of the Bible:
• Creation
• Sin
• Jesus to the rescue
• Salvation
• How to become a Christian
They were thought provoking talks, which were delivered with lots of audience participation.

There was the usually craziness in the free time, where some of us discovered a new talent at basketball. We had a basketball tournament, where our resident American and his team took the winning prize. Scottish ceildh dancing and Hungarian dancing was also on the agenda, along with pottery and some Hungarian comedy. All activities went down a treat.

The highlight of the week was the great finale of the camp concert, where every class thought of some entertaining performances. As usual, the Scottish team developed some crazy words to the tune ‘On the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond'. Then finished camp on a high note by showing the Hungarians how to sing Auld Laing Syne. A lot of fun. The best thing about this camp was the strong friendships that were made. Also seeing God's word come alive, as we talk and share what it means to be a Christian with other people.
