EEFC Statement of Faith
We Believe in:
- The full, verbal inspiration of all the Old and New Testaments as originally given, and of these alone; their being themselves the Word of God, without error, and wholly reliable in both fact and doctrine; their supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
- The Triune God; the unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption.
- The total depravity of human nature in consequence of the first sin of Adam, and the necessity for regeneration.
- The justification of the sinner solely by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
- The work of the Holy Spirit as essential for a true understanding of the Scriptures for regeneration, union with Christ, sanctification, and for ministry and worship; His presence and working in every believer.
- The universal Church, the body of which Christ is the Head, embracing all who have been redeemed by Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit. This Church is governed by Christ as Head through His Word and Spirit, by means of Church officers, and is called to live in unity throughout the world, worshipping and serving Him, and advancing His kingdom, in obedience to His revealed will.
- The ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, instituted by Christ in His Word, as signs and guarantees of membership in the community and blessings of His covenant; but not that Baptism conveys regenerating grace, nor that the Lord's Supper is a sacrifce for sin, nor that it involves any change in the substance of the bread and wine.
- The personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory; the resurrection of the body, universal judgement by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked.
