Koinónia is a Hungarian Publishing House located in Transylvania, a region of Romania with a significant ethnic Hungarian minority. The firm was founded in 1990 by the CE (Christian Endeavour) Association of Romania. We subscribe to The Heidelberg Catechism and The Second Helvetic Confession. Emphasizing titles in the Reformed tradition, we publish primarily in the Hungarian language, with a strong commitment to publishing a selection of Reformed titles in the Romanian language also. Koinónia is also interested in topics related to its homeland (see the photo album Transylvania Anno Domini MMI) and in children’s literature of good quality – both in content and appearance.

We are grateful that in 2003 we published among others the following noteworthy titles:

Visky Ferenc: Méz a sziklából [Honey from the Rock], a book containing daily Bible-meditations;

Kecskeméthy István: Beszéljünk nyíltan [Let’s Talk Openly] – a collection of still relevant articles about faith, mission, the Christian’s role in society etc. published between the two world wars in a Christian family magazine Kis Tükör;

William Bridge: Vigasztalás csüggedõknek [A Lifting Up for the Downcast] - 13 sermons on Psalm 42,11 preached in London in 1648. Bridge manifests great insight into the causes of the saints’ discouragements such as great sins, weak grace, failure in duties, want of assurance, temptation, desertion, affliction etc.;

Michiel de Ruyter: Az óceán ura [The Lord of the Ocean. Admiral Michiel de Ruyter’s Life] – the biography of the famous Dutch admiral from the 17th century, who rescued 24 Hungarian Protestant pastors from the galleys in Naples. The book is for children and contains beautiful Dutch paintings about old ships;

Koinónia’s Christian family magazine Kis Tükör has a new format: the cover is coloured and it has got four coloured pages dedicated for children (with stories, puzzles etc).

Please pray for the following book-projects:

Visky András: Stories about being an orphan illustrated with photos about children and landscape
Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism (12 authors contributing: Hungarians, English, Dutch) for the young, who want to add to their faith knowledge
Starting a series of Bible stories for children with beautiful illustrations, in 2004: Noah, Abraham, Zachariah and Elisabeth, The Birth of Jesus.
Guide for camp-organizers – Koinónia’s friends among who many organize summer camps requested the publishing of materials that would be helpful for the organizers
Határ [Borders] - an anthology of writings written by those lecturers who attended the Summer camp for students at Mahanaim, since the summer camp for students will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2004.
