Mahanaim 2008
"I've been going to Mahanaim for a few summers now, and I can honestly say I enjoy it more it each year. The Mahanaim weather was unpredictable as ever; we had the full range - from roasting hot sunshine through to torrential downpours and a pretty impressive display of thunder and lightning. The mixed conditions made for a tricky batting wicket for the ‘big game' of cricket. We continue in hope each year that it will be the beginning of the game taking off in Eastern Europe.
Still no electricity at the camp, which means the campfire provides the light and warmth for the evening program, which was the usual mix of singing, testimonies and drinking hot chocolate. There were reports on the Tuesday night of a visit from a bear to the campsite. The rumors remained ‘unsubstantiated', but it was quite exciting none the less, and also quite useful for encouraging the campers to get to bed earlier on the following nights.
All of this said, the camp was great fun and every one had a really good time, but much more importantly, God's Word was taught and campers heard and responded. The morning Bible studies followed the story of Joseph and opened up plenty of questions for the discussion groups. We saw campers make professions of faith and we continue to thank the Lord for the opportunity to share in his work at this camp."
