A Big Thank You

Now that our 2008 camps are safely and happily completed I want to thank all those who gave of their time, energy and resources to run two camps at Hejce and one each at Bucsin, Debrecen, Hódmezővásárhely, Mahanaim and Tivadar. I hope you enjoyed your time at camp and were able to have some free time to meet new people and see new places. If you are anything like me you will have found the campers a pleasure to teach or counsel and a joy to be with. I have had some encouraging reports from the national camp staff about the positive reaction of some campers to the gospel message and I would encourage you to pray that God might use your camp to bring more people to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. If at any time you feel diffident about your own contribution to this worthwhile service please remember that "Your labour in the Lord is not in vain". I hope you will now consider coming to the 2009 camps.
Donald Matheson, Chairman EEFC.

Wedding Bells

David and Zsuzsa in Aberdeen It is with great pleasure that we record that another of our EEFC bachelors has succumbed to the charms of the Hungarian fair sex as David Collingwood and Zsuzsanna Hadházy are to be married on Saturday 30th August in the Reformed Church in Hajdúhadház, Hungary. The happy couple had an initial service in the High Church, Hilton in Aberdeen on 23rd August which many of their UK friends and both families were able to attend. The groom reported that he first met his bride WHILST TEACHING AT AN EEFC CAMP. We wish David and Zsuzsa God`s richest blessing in their life together.

Wedding Bells

Andrew and Éva Friday 4th April 2008 was a notable day in the EEFC calendar as it marked the marriage of our Camps Coordinator Andrew Burrows to Éva Suci in Dumfries Free Church. The service was conducted by Rev Levente Horvath, assisted by the groom`s father Rev Bruce Burrows and Rev Marcus McCullough a regular leader of our camps for many years. The very moving ceremony was attended by an international gathering of families and friends who then enjoyed a sumptuous meal in the Troqueer Church Hall. EEFCers will be interested to know that Andrew and Éva met at our Mahanaim Camp a few years ago. We wish the new couple God`s richest blessing in their life together.

Ryanair's New Routes to Budapest

ryanair logoPhilip was pointing out that Ryanair have announced a new route from Glasgow Prestwick to Budapest which starts in November 2007. They are planning three flights per week. This is excellent news for EEFCers flying from Scotland to Hungary or Hungarians who want to visit Scotland. They have also announced four flights per week to Budapest from Liverpool's John Lennon airport.  This should mean our leaders from the north of England have some extra options. Leaders from Northern Ireland might also like to note there are new daily flights to Prestwick and Liverpool from Belfast City airport, which start around the same time as the new Hungarian routes open up. Details of Ryanair's plans can be found here.

AGM 2007

MarioThe EEFC AGM 2007 took place on Friday 11th May at Perth Free Church.

You can read the chairman's report from Donald Matheson and the camps report from Andrew Burrows.

In particular we would like to thank Mario Dani Nagy for coming over to be our guest speaker. It seemed that everyone present was very encouraged by Mario and we ask God's blessing on him and his colleagues as they prepare for the camp in Hódmezövásárhely.

2005 and before

Posted by EEFC Council.......

20 May 2005
There have been a few changes to the Council. At the recent AGM John MacPherson (formerly chairperson) and Marcus McCulloch both stepped down, we would like to take this opportunity to thank both for all their hard work for EEFC. Donald Matheson had been appointed new Chairperson, with Kenny MacLeod as Vice Chair. We also welcome new council members Sammy Thomson and Rob MacDonald.

2004
Well, that’s another year behind us! 2004 was a busy year for EEFC. As usual we ran our summer camps in Hungary, Ukraine and Romania which were a great success and we pray that God would continue to bless the seed sown there. 2004 saw a new EEFC camp being held for the first time in Berekfürdo in Hungary.

2004 also saw a few changes on the EEFC council. We said goodbye to Catherine Maclean and Rev Andrew Fraser, both long serving members, and also to Ewan Morrison, Prayer Secretary. Filling the gap left by their departure we welcomed Kerrie Bavidge, Calum Ferguson and Anne Brodie – who will also take over the Prayer Secretary’s role. We would like to thank the outgoing members for all their hard work over the years and welcome the new members to the team.

In October and November we were also fortunate enough to play host to visiting Pastor Levente Horath, of the Bonus Pastor Foundation, when he visited the UK and spoke at a number of EEFC events.
